Throwing away
I have finally finished moving, gotten my net connection squared away, and am able to post again. It has been an interesting, challenging couple of weeks. Moving is always an exercise in sheer frustration, and this time really tipped the scale as far as frustration is concerned. I have never had such a miserable, back-breaking moving experience. But now that it is all finished, I am enjoying my new apartment immensely.
Part of the moving process involved getting rid of many things that we had been storing up. Now this was something I expected, but the extent of the throwing-out went far beyond my estimations. We threw away not only the useless but the useful (large furniture items, electronic entertainment devices, etc). There was a great purging of the material. Oddly, this was very liberating. It feels wonderful to cut away all of the "stuff," the things that we own that more often own us.
